The 5 Most Common Myths About Puppy Yoga

And why they are wrong

At Euphorie Chiot, we often hear the same misconceptions when it comes to puppy yoga. So it's time to shed some light on this unique activity, which is kind, gentle, and deeply respectful of animal welfare. Here are the five most common myths… and the truth that debunks them.

Myth 1: "Puppies do yoga"

This is probably the most common myth. No, puppies don't do yoga poses! It's the human participants who practice a light yoga or relaxation session. The puppies, on the other hand, move freely around the room. They are free to come to you, play, sleep, or simply explore. No constraints are imposed on them.

At Euphorie Chiot, we always respect the animal's natural rhythm.

Myth 2: "It's not clean, puppies relieve themselves everywhere"

Hygiene is a priority. Our sessions take place in a suitable environment, with training mats and staff present at all times to clean as needed. Participants must bring their own yoga mat, and breaks are scheduled between each session for cleaning, airing out the space, and allowing the puppies to rest.

Everything is in place to ensure a clean, safe and pleasant space for everyone.

Myth 3: "Puppies are exhausted or overused"

It's quite the opposite. Our puppies participate in a maximum of a few hours of activities per weekend. Breaks of 45 minutes to an hour are scheduled between each session. They sleep when they need to and are never forced to interact; they are free to move around and sleep during classes. Foster families and breeders support us in ensuring their healthy development, and their well-being is our top priority.

Our rules are strict and centered on respect for animals.

Myth 4: "It's not safe for puppies"

All our puppies are vaccinated, examined by a veterinarian, and come from non-profit organizations that prioritize their health. We do not accept any puppy that has not been previously assessed and prepared. Furthermore, our sessions are supervised by an experienced team who ensure that every interaction is respectful and calm.

Our participants also receive clear instructions: puppies are not held against their will, they are allowed to sleep, and their autonomy is respected.

Myth 5: "It's just a cute activity, without any real value."

Puppy yoga is so much more than just a cute moment. For puppies, it's a valuable socialization opportunity that helps them better adapt to future human environments. For participants, it's a moment of well-being, mindfulness, and reconnection to the present moment. The testimonials we receive often speak of calm, lightness, and a genuine joy felt after the experience.

It's a gentle, educational and beneficial activity for everyone.

In conclusion

Puppy yoga is neither a show nor a passing fad. It is a supervised activity, designed to respect the animal and offer a genuine moment of relaxation for humans.

At Euphorie Chiot, we want each participant to understand our mission: to promote the well-being of puppies while creating a gentle and bright experience for humans.
