On a testé une séance avec une personne ayant peur des chiens

We tested a session with a person who was afraid of dogs.

An honest, reassuring and educational story

The fear of dogs is very real. For some people, the thought of being in a room full of puppies, no matter how cute they may be, can cause discomfort, anxiety, and even dread.

At Euphorie Chiot , we deeply believe that the well-being of humans is as important as that of puppies. So, we wanted to go further than a simple kind invitation: we tested a session with a person afraid of dogs , in a gentle, safe and supervised setting.

Here is his testimony. And what we learned, together.

The profile: an old fear, but a great curiosity

Amélie (not her real name) is 28 years old. She has never had a dog at home . She remembers two difficult experiences in her childhood: a dog barking at her in a park, and another jumping on her without warning. Since then, she has avoided dogs, even small ones. However, she has been following Euphorie Chiot on Instagram for a while.

“I was drawn to the softness of the images, but I always said to myself: this is not for me.”

One day, she wrote to us. Not to book a session, but to tell us that she admired our approach and dreamed of experiencing one… one day. So, we offered her a meeting, at her own pace, in a private and secure setting.

Before the session: welcome, listening, choices

Before even entering the room, we took the time to talk with Amélie. We explained to her:

  • That she could stand, sit or move freely , without obligation.
  • That she could leave at any time if she felt overwhelmed.
  • That no puppy would be placed directly on her.
  • That a member of our team would stay by his side, without pressure or expectation .

We also introduced her to the puppies through a small barrier. She was able to observe their energy, their behavior , and ask all her questions.

“What reassured me the most was knowing that I didn't have to prove anything. That I could just be there, without having to interact if I didn't feel like it.”

During the session: slow immersion, at your own pace

The first few moments were observant. Sitting back, Amélie simply watched the puppies move around the space. She smiled. She commented on their behavior. And, quietly, she moved closer .

A puppy came and sat next to her. She didn't touch it. But she remained calm , at her own pace.

After 25 minutes, she gently reached out. A small Golden Retriever sniffed her, then lay down next to her leg. She burst into tears.

No fear. Just liberation .

“That moment changed everything. I understood that I could be in the presence of a dog without danger, without fear, and even… with gentleness.”

After the session: emotions, pride, confidence

At the end of the session, Amélie took the time to share what she felt: pride, a little fatigue, but above all, great confidence. She didn't "cure" her fear in an hour, of course. But she did deconstruct an important piece .

And most importantly, she had a positive experience with dogs , for the first time in her life.

What we learned

This experience confirmed several things for us:

  • Fear deserves listening, not judgment .
  • Puppy yoga can be a gentle, safe, and beneficial exposure setting .
  • Human support is as essential as animal behavior management.

At Euphorie Chiot, everyone is welcome. No matter your previous experience with dogs, we believe in meeting at your own pace, in kindness above all else, and in respecting your boundaries.

In conclusion

If you're afraid of dogs , know that you're not alone. And most importantly, know that you're welcome at Euphorie Chiot.

You can simply write to us. Ask your questions. Come observe. Or even experience a tailored session, with gentle support.

There are no expectations. Just the possibility of a different, respectful… and perhaps even a little transformative experience.
